    Field Notes:  Date: November 15, 2025 Time: 8:25 pm Temperature: 58˚F Conditions: Cloudy, no rain Sunrise: 7:33 am Sunset: 5:21 pm Length of day: 9 hours and 48 minutes Sounds: I heard birds chirping, and a couple of cars. It was a pretty quiet day. Sights: I saw trees, bushes, and algae, along with other plants and many dead leaves. I also saw a couple birds. Changes: It looks very different today. The leaves are almost completely off the trees and the algae is getting a lot thinner. Notices: I noticed that a lot of the mushrooms I saw last time are gone. Questions: I wonder how long the log has been in the pond, and I wonder how long it will be until it rots. This is the picture that I take every time.  A spider kept crawling out and then back in from this leaf. I thought these mushrooms looked cool. This is a picture of the algae thinning out. This is a picture of some of the birds I saw.

  Field Notes:  Date: October 24, 2025 Time: 4:03 pm Temperature: 49˚F Conditions: Cloudy, no rain Sunrise: 7:57 am Sunset: 6:36 pm Length of day: 10 hours and 39 minutes Sounds: I heard birds chirping, someone mowing their yard nearby, and a couple of cars. I also heard a squirrel making quite a few sounds. It sounded almost like squawking. Sights: I saw trees, bushes, and algae, along with other plants and many dead leaves. I also saw a squirrel. Changes: It is starting to look a lot different. There seems to be a lot less algae than previously, and there are a lot more leaves today. Notices: I noticed that there are a lot of leaves in the water, partially because of the reduction in algae making the bottom visible, but I think partially it was due to the leaves falling. Questions: Why is everything else seeming to lessen, but the mushrooms are growing a lot? This is the picture that I take every time. I saw a squirrel and it was almost chirping.   Field Notes:  Date: October 11, 2025 Time: 1:30 pm Temperature: 63˚F Conditions: Cloudy, no rain Sunrise: 7:53 am Sunset: 7:07 pm Length of day: 11 hours and 14 minutes Sounds: I heard cicadas, birds chirping, someone mowing their yard nearby, sticks breaking Sights: I saw trees, bushes, and algae, along with other plants and dead leaves. Changes: I noticed a lot of change today. The leaves are changing color and it is getting a lot colder. Notices: I noticed that there were a lot fewer bugs and spiders. I was kind of surprised by the lack of bugs, as usually I see tons of them. Questions: I wonder what will happen to the algae when the pond starts to freeze over. This is the picture that I take every time. I took a picture of these leaves last time because I thought they looked cool, but I think that this plant's leaves might turn purple in the fall, because I saw an increase of purple leaves.
